Maurice James Jr. — a self-taught contemporary artist and graphic designer whose work challenges the boundaries of pop culture and repositions Blackness at the center of the American imagination. Born in Philadelphia and now based in Washington, D.C., Maurice uses digital graphics to remix iconic moments, infusing them with symbolism rooted in Black love, Black power, and Black genius.

His work is an exercise in "Black Propaganda"—the intentional use of imagery to construct a positive, self-sustaining reality for the Black Diaspora. By blending the visual language of vintage advertisements, wartime propaganda, and iconic pop culture with digital collage, James aims to dismantle historical exclusion and replace it with a Black Utopia.
